Tashkent, April 19, IRNA-Iranian weightlifters collected a host of colorful medals at the 4th Asian Junior Inter-Clubs Championships in Tashkent on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Representing the country in the 85 kg, Ehsan Dara-Beigi from Masjed Soleiman's Naft finished runner-up with an asset of one gold, one silver, and one bronze.
Dara-Beigi hoisted 142 kg in snatch to take the coveted gold. He bagged bronze with a clean-and-jerk 173 kg record, winning the silver with the total 315 kg mark.
Hamid Armak, a teammate of Dara-Beigi, took the seventh title of the category.
In the 69 kg, Rassoul Taqian from the Ahvaz-based Naft handed Iran three glittering golds.
The weightlifter stole the show as he locked 127 and 161 above his head.
Iran also took a bronze in the 69 kg clean-and-jerk contests through Masjed Soleiman's Ayat Ourameh.
In the 77 kg, Ahad Sanjabi won two bronze medals in the clean and jerk and total, lifting 129 and 162.
Five gold and three bronze medals came Monday.
Meysam Firouzi won three golds in the 56 kg class, hoisting 98 kg in snatch and 119 kg in clean and jerk.
The two bronzes came as Rahman Azizi finished fourth with a snatch record of 86 kg and took the third titles in the clean and jerk and total categories with a 112 kg mark.
In the 62 kg, Behrouz Sajjadi took two silver and one bronze medals.
He registered 123 and 147 records, standing second in the snatch and total rankings and third in the clean and jerk.
World's +105 kg weightlifting record-holder Hossein Rezazadeh arrived here Monday morning to join teammates in Masjed Soleiman's Naft, representing the country in the seniors' competitions.
The popular lifter was warmly welcomed in the airport by Mohammad Fat'hali, Iran's ambassador to the Uzbek capital, Ali Moradi, president of Iran's Weightlifting Federation and secretary of the Asian Weightlifting Confederation, and Jahangir Pourhang, head of Naft.
Pourhang named weightlifters for the Asian tournaments.
He told IRNA Hossein Rezazadeh, Ali Qara-Daghi, Meysam Firouzi, Rahman Azizi, Ahad Sanjabi, Ehsan Dara-Beigi, Mahdiar Nassir-Shalal, Mehrzad Mahmedi, Pedram Parsi, Yassin Namdari, Hamid Armak, Mehdi Agah, Ayat Ourameh, and Sohrab Moradi are the lifters, who consist the southern team.
According to him, coaches Mohammad-Zaman Mahmedi and Shah-Karam Karamzadeh and technical manager Mehran Motlaq are accompanying the team.
