TEHRAN, Aug. 16 (Mehr News Agency) - Eight cylinder automobiles once again hit the nation's streets. Imports of the cars had been banned for years.
Following years of absence of the eight cylinder automobiles among various imported cars, a batch of the first 4 liter V8, BMW 740 sedans has entered Iran's auto markets, the Persian service of Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA) reported.
Imports of the eight cylinder cars were earlier banned because of their high fuel consumption the report said adding, however, given the fact that a number of the cars get better gas mileage than a large number of the domestically made automobiles, it is expected that more of the vehicles be imported soon.
Based on the report, Toyota is also planning to follow the suit and import its eight cylinder Land Cruiser models into the nation's lucrative auto market.
