TEHRAN, Aug. 19 (Mehr News Agency) -- Iran's five-kilometer-long painting is scheduled to be registered by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's longest painting on August 22.
"Entitled 'To the Light', the project's theme is the Prophet Muhammad (S) and spreading peace and justice throughout the world," Tehran Young Adults Art and Cultural Center director Masud Sharifi said at a press conference here on August 19.
Children and young adults created the painting, which consists of 100-meter pieces of canvas sewn together.
"Last year, we were unable to register the project in the Guinness book. However, due to the vigorous efforts of Iran's cultural attaché to Britain, the project will be registered on August 22. The last registered painting that managed to break the world record was a 2987-meter painting by artists from the United Arab Emirates," Sharifi added.
