Tehran, Aug 19, IRNA-An earthquake measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale hit southern parts of the city of Tabas in the central province of Yazd in the wee hours of Saturday.
The seismological base of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University registered the quake at 03:57 hours local time (0027 GMT).
The quake was epicentered in an area measuring 56.83 degrees in longitude and 33.3 degrees in latitude, the report added.
There are no reports of any casualty or damage to property caused by the quake.
Iran is often hit by quakes of varying magnitudes as it sits on some of the world's most active seismic faultlines.
