Ahmadinejad visits Iran's sport camp in Doha


Tehran, Dec 1, IRNA-Iran's president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad toured residence of Iranian athletes in the village of Asian Games in Doha, Qatar, on Friday. In an address to the Iranian athletes and sport officials, Ahmadinejad wished them success in the 15th Asian Games.

He said he is visiting Qatar to participate in the opening ceremonies of the Asian Games and meet Emir of Qatar, Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani.

The President added that today all the Iranian nation pray for success of the Iranian athletes who are also "the ambassadors of morals and culture of Iran."

Noting that the Iranian athletes should be the standard bearers of spirituality, fair play, peace, justice and brotherhood among the nations, he stressed that athletes should not be worried about success, because what's of importance for the nation is their doing their best.

Before the President's speech, head of the team of Iranian athletes in Qatar, Nasrollah Sajjadi, thanked President Ahmadinejad for visiting Iranian sport camp, and said National Olympic Committee of Iran has been arranging for the Asian Games since 18 months ago.

Iran has dispatched 385 athletes, head coaches, coaches, and a number of other officials to Doha Asian Games as well as 50 Iranian referees to judge different sports events in the Games.

Iranian athletes are to compete in 34 out of 39 sport events.

Iran's president left the Asian Games village after visiting Iran's sport camp and is scheduled to visit Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani in hours.
