THE HAGUE, Dec. 8 (Mehr News Agency) -- If the Iranian people's legal nuclear rights continue to be ignored, Tehran may soon lodge a lawsuit at the International Court of Justice in The Hague seeking satisfaction, Iranian Foreign Minister Manuchehr Mottaki told ICJ President Rosalyn Higgins in The Hague on Thursday.
Unfortunately, some major powers have disrupted peace and security in the Middle East through their unilateral approaches and illegal use of military force, Mottaki said.
The top Iranian diplomat stated that only peaceful solutions, and not confrontation, can secure international peace and security.
Pointing to the illegal demands in regard to the Iranian nuclear program, he maintained that "rights" and "commitments" are two sides of the same coin and that commitment without rights would damage international organizations.
Higgins said the World Court has always tried to make correct legal rulings.
However, in settling disputes, other aspects of dossiers must be taken into consideration, she added.
She went on to say that international law is the only instrument that views all countries equally and makes no distinction between powerful and weak states.
