Kashan, Isfahan prov, Dec 17, IRNA-The number of people injured as a result of derailment of a passenger train near the central city of Kashan Sunday morning has raised to eight, said a local official.
The train was en route from Bandar Abbas in Hormuzgan Province, southern Iran, to the capital city of Tehran when eight of its passenger carriages derailed in Dehnad station near the village of Sen Sen, 30 km from Kashan, at 08:05 hours local time (0435 GMT).
The accident had no casualties, head of Kashan's Medical Sciences University, Ali-Reza Kashaninejad, said.
He added that the injured were immediately taken to Kashan's Shahid Beheshti Hospital and received proper treatment.
Earlier in the day, the Public Relations Office of State Railways reported in a statement that the Tehran-Isfahan route is now blocked due to the accident and technicians are working to reopen it as soon as possible.
It added that a top commission responsible for railways incidents has launched investigations to find out the cause of the accident.
