TEHRAN, Dec. 19 (Mehr News Agency) - A painting exhibition opened at the National Library and Documents Organization of Iran on Tuesday to celebrate the 400th birthday anniversary of Dutch painter Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn.
Four famous paintings along with 15 drawings of Rembrandt and his biography are at hand.
Entitled "Iran's and the Netherlands' Paintings", the show aims to feature outstanding works of the two countries in 16th and 17th centuries.
The visitors will also find a chance to view some miniatures from an exceptional Iranian work of art Tahmasbi Shahnameh.
Tahmasbi Shahnameh's pictures were made by several great Safavid master painters and their students.
This is a treasure house of the best paintings in Iran. The book was completed within a period of 30 years by masters such as Mir Mossavvar, Sultan Mohammad, Aqa Mirak, Doost Mohammad, Mirza Ali, Mir Seyyed Ali, Mozaffar Ali, and tens of other artists.
This book which was compiled upon the instruction of Shah Tahmasb I (1524-1576) originally contained 258 miniatures.
