TEHRAN, Dec. 20 (Mehr News Agency) - The World Award of Monotheistic Religions exhibition opened at the Imam Ali Religious Arts Museum here on Wednesday.
Organized by Tehran Municipality's Art and Culture Organization, the event is the first international poster competition.
A total of 40 works have been chosen by the Iranian jury, including Aidin Aghdashlu, Ebrahim Haqiqi, Mohammad-Hossein Halimi, Hossein Khosrojerdi, and Farshid Mesqali.
Jury members Sadik Karamustafa from Turkey, Rene Wanner from Switzerland, and Alejandro Magallanes from Mexico have also helped pick up the works.
The exhibition, which also features the jury's 55 works, runs until Jan. 15, 2007.
This year's competition focuses on the pictorial representation of religious leaders' biographies, the prophets' teachings.
The award has been designed on the assumption of the basic unity of religious faiths in the worship of God and the rejection of the demon of pride and oppression as well as the ideal of bringing about a moral and just society inspired by the teachings of prophets.
Artists from Turkey, India, Czech Republic, Poland, Mexico, the U.S., France, Russia, Ukraine, Switzerland, the UAE, and Germany are competing at the event.
