Last Friday, Haleh Anvari’s new
exhibition of photographs Chador
Dadar opened in the Etemad Gallery in Tehran. It was a very crowded and busy
gathering on the first snowy night of the winter in North
Tehran.
Haleh is a talented photographer
whose photographs show the chador, traditionally a black all-encompassing tent
which covers the wearer from head to toe, in a totally different light. Haleh’s chadors are a rich and vivid
mixture of red, blue, green and orange fabrics, and are really
eye-catching.
The most intriguing point about this
exhibition was the location of the photographs, ranging from London, Paris, Dubai, the Taj Mahal and Istanbul.
they show how the multi-colored chadors attracted reactions from the
local people in each city in front of well known monuments. I thought that the photographs set
in Paris and Istanbul were
outstanding.
I have a few photographs to share
with you.
The exhibition runs until
13th December from 3pm to 8pm.
It is closed on the 8th November.
