TEHRAN, Dec. 22 (Mehr News Agency) -- Iran is determined to fight the use of the false titles for Persian Gulf and will not clear the goods re-exported under the sham names for the forever "Persian" Gulf.
Doing away with the re-export issue is the best way to counter the unjustifiable moves by some Arab countries of the Persian Gulf region in refraining from mentioning the word "Persian" when referring to Persian Gulf, a member of Iran's Chamber of Commerce said.
"The problem has not been mentioned officially though; the claim is as yet something of a rumor and has only been mentioned in the media. However, if they insist on the use of the fake name, the time is ripe for changing our re-export origins and transferring them to some other places elsewhere," the Persian service of ISNA news agency quoted him as saying here on Friday.
In all its transactions with foreign countries, in particular the Persian Gulf littoral states, Iran has always insisted on mentioning the prefix "Persian". The issue has created some political sensitivity which would eventually lead to halting Iran's re-export origins, reconsideration of the locations or transferring them to some other places like Karachi, the official maintained.
Iran has constantly ranked as the first re-export destination for a number of the Persian Gulf emirates including Dubai and Sharjah in the recent years.
