TEHRAN, Dec. 24 (Mehr News Agency) - On Sunday, former Iranian president Mohammad Khatami expressed hope that the New Year would be a year of peace.
"In an atmosphere of violence, war, terror, and misunderstanding which has pained the hearts of all people and made them more concerned about their destiny and future, it is hoped that the new Christian year will be a year of understanding, sympathy, and efforts for justice-based peace," the chairman of the International Center for Dialogue Among Civilizations said in a message to all Christians on the eve of the New Year.
Like Prophet Mohammad (S), Jesus Christ (AS) is a prophet for everyone, and according to the Quran, a believer is a person who not only believes in God, the holy books, and His messengers but also believes in all prophets and makes no distinction between them, Khatami observed.
The former president lamented the fact that narrow-mindedness and unnatural prejudices are endangering every human's spiritual and material achievements.
This common concern can prompt efforts to find a solution to the current crises, and the true followers of divine religions can play an invaluable role in this mission, which is on the agenda of the International Center for Dialogue Among Civilizations, he added.
