Starting from next year, tourists who visit the historic city of Kashan may reside in Zand era Amerian House.
Tehran, 15 December 2006 (CHN) -- Historic Amerian House, one of the architectural masterpieces of the Zand era (1750-1794 AD) in Kashan will turn into tourist lodging by next year. The House will also include a restaurant and a coffee shop.
Announcing this news, Mehran Sarmadian, deputy director of Cultural Heritage and Tourism Department of Kashan, said that the Department is planning to renovate other historic monuments of the city and make them ready to host tourists.
Famous for its outstanding desert architecture, Kashan is located in Isfahan province and hosts large numbers of tourists each year.
Amerian House, or House of the Ameri family, is a traditional house in Kashan which was built during the Zand dynasty but was later extensively renovated in the mid 19th century during the Qajar era (1787-1921 AD). The house is one of several large spectacular old houses in the central district of Kashan. Like the other historic houses around it, it was rebuilt after Kashan was ravaged by a series of massive earthquakes in the 18th century.
In the recent years, the Ameri House has become a public museum and will soon be ready to house tourists visiting Kashan.
