Tehran, Feb 5, IRNA-Iran took the third title at an international boxing tournament in Debrecen, Hungary, as Noureddin Chegini snatched the gold Saturday night.
"Technical Boxer of the Tournament" Chegini stole the show in the 60 kg class as he outboxed his Romanian rival in the final, adding a glittering gold to four bronzes the country had already won.
Iran collected 16 points while the host Hungary celebrated the title on 30 points and Romania finished runner-up with a 20-point asset.
Four bronzes came as Javad Afrakhteh, Mehrdad Hamidian, Morteza Sepahvand, and Ali Sepahvand finished third in the 51, 54, 64, and 91 kg categories respectively.
Hungary, Iran, India, Syria, Germany, Ukraine, Romania, Croatia, Australia, Egypt, Moldova, Bulgaria, Switzerland, Denmark, Czech Republic, and Turkey participated at the tourney.
Eleven boxers represented Iran in the event and the team will return home Monday.
