program Berlin, Feb 20, IRNA-Iranian expatriates rallied in two southwestern German cities - Wiesbaden and Mainz - over the weekend to voice support for Iran's right to have a civilian nuclear program, the Iranian Consulate General in Frankfurt announced on Monday.
The Iranian demonstrators, among them university professors and students, protested western double-standards in dealing with Tehran's nuclear program.
Those attending the rally condemned western attempts to deprive Iran of its legitimate right to have access to nuclear technology.
Addressing the crowd, several speakers pointed to the benefits of civilian nuclear energy, saying it would also enhance the scientific level of young Iranian scientists.
Demonstrators pointed out Iran had never displayed any aggressive military actions towards other regional countries during its history.
A final communique was issued at the end of the rally, stressing Iran's right to the peaceful use of nuclear energy and calling for the establishment of a weapons of mass destruction-free zone in the Middle East.
