Tehran, Feb 23, IRNA-An earthquake measuring 4.0 on the Richter scale hit the western outskirts of Abyek city in Qazvin province, 148 kilometers northwest of the capital Tehran, early Thursday morning.
According to the provincial seismological network affiliated to the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the quake occurred at 02:49 hours local time (23:19 GMT Wednesday).
The tremor was felt in an area measuring 36.15 degrees in latitude and 50.29 degrees in longitude, the report added.
There have been no reports of any casualty or damage to property caused by the quake.
Iran is often hit by quakes of varying magnitudes as it sits on some of the world's most active seismic faultlines.
