Mild quake jolts Saveh in central Iran

Tehran, Feb 27, IRNA-An earthquake measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale jolted the vicinity of Saveh in Markazi province Monday afternoon.

According to the seismological base of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the quake occurred at 17:01 hours local time (13:31 hrs GMT).

The epicenter of the quake was recorded at 50.27 degrees longitude and 34.96 degrees latitude.

There are no reports of casualty or damage to property caused by the quake.

Iran is often hit by quakes of varying magnitudes as it sits on some of the world's most active seismic fault lines.

Quake jolts southern Iran

Tehran, Feb 27, IRNA-An earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale hit the outskirts of Zarrindasht city in the southern province of Fars Monday.

According to the Fars Seismological Network affiliated to the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the quake occurred at 12:26 hours local time (08:56 GMT).

The tremor was felt in an area measuring 54.59 degrees in longitude and 28.43 degrees in latitude, the report added.

There have been no reports of any casualty or damage to property caused by the quake.
