Tehran, 31 December 2005 (CHN) -- With establishing a special website for Isfahan city, the selected "Cultural Capital" of the Islamic world in 2006, the city's latest news and programs of the year will be provided online.
"From next week, the latest news and programs of the "Cultural Capital" of the Islamic world for the year 2006 will be accessible for those who are interested to learn more about this city. The information will be available online and may be accessed at www.esfahan2006.com," said Ghasemzadeh, director of the Cultural-Entertainment Organization of Isfahan's Municipality and deputy secretary of the Special Committee of Isfahan Cultural Capital of the Islamic World.
Isfahan City has been chosen as the cultural capital of the Islamic countries for the year 2006 by the cultural section of the Organization of Islamic Capitals and Cities (OICC). The Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization of Iran is about to establish a museum of Islamic arts in the city to welcome the selection.
Every year, a city is selected by OICC as the "cultural capital" of the Islamic world. In 2005, Mecca in Saudi Arabia and in 2004 Aleppo in Syria were chosen as cultural capitals by the organization. Now with the selection of Isfahan as the cultural capital of the Islamic world in year 2006, Iran should take advantage of this chance as much as possible and to introduce the city in the best possible way.
In this regard, the flags of 57 Islamic countries will be raised in Naqsh e Jahan Square in Isfahan during an opening ceremony marking the official announcement of the city of Isfahan as the cultural capital of the Islamic world. This flag-hoisting ceremony will be held on 11th of January 2006, coinciding with Eid e Ghorban, one of the most important feasts in Muslim countries, and will be attended by representatives from 57 Islamic countries.
