Tehran, Jan 21, IRNA-An earthquake measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale hit the outskirts of Avaj city in Qazvin province, northwest of the capital Tehran, on Friday evening.
According to the province's seismological base affiliated to the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the quake occurred at 19:03 hours local time (15:33 GMT).
The quake was felt in an area measuring 49.08 degrees in longitude and 35.87 degrees in latitude.
There are no reports of any casualty or damage to property caused by the tremor.
Quakes of varying magnitudes often occur in Iran, which is situated on some of the world's most active seismic faultlines.
