Huge textile factory, largest in Middle East to become operational in Ardebil

TEHRAN, Jan. 22 (Mehr News Agency) -- A huge textile factory, largest in its kind in the Middle East region will become operational in Ardebil Province by the yearend, the Persian service of Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA) said on Sunday.

The textile manufacturing complex encompasses a land of about 22 hectares and after coming into stream is expected to create 4,000 job opportunities in the region. Some 1,500 billion rials has been invested in the project, a provincial official said.

Given that Ardebil Province is the second largest cotton producer in the country and is located in the vicinity of other neighboring countries and moreover, it enjoys plentiful supply of energy, establishing the giant textile plant in the region would yield significant number of job opportunities for the workforce of this northwestern Iranian province.

The factory will use state-of-the-art technology and equipments imported from Germany and Italy and is planned to produce products that are to meet the standards of the world markets and in particular, the WTO (World Trade Organization). The project's construction works are 70 percent complete now.
