Tehran, Jan 24, IRNA-An earthquake measuring 3.9 on the Richter scale jolted the city of Farouj in the northeastern province of North Khorassan Monday evening.
According to the seismological base of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the quake occurred at 17:56 hours local time (14:26 GMT).
The quake was felt in an area measuring 58.42 degrees in longitude and 37.34 degrees in latitude.
There have been no reports of any casualty or damage to property caused by the quake.
With a population of 70,000, Farouj is located 90 kilometers east of the provincial capital Bojnourd.
Quakes of varying magnitudes often occur in Iran, which is situated on some of the world's most active seismic faultlines.
