Tehran, Jan 25, IRNA-An earthquake measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale jolted Qeshm island in the southern province of Hormuzgan Tuesday evening.
According to the seismological base of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the quake occurred at 19:37 hours local time (16:07 GMT).
The quake was felt in an area measuring 55.87 degrees in longitude and 26.73 degrees in latitude.
There have been no reports of any casualty or damage to property caused by the quake.
Qeshm, a 1,500-square-kilometer island, is home to some rare wildlife such as certain species of birds endemic only to the area.
The Forests of Hara in the island is a unique tourist spot.
The island is also one of Iran's lucrative commercial and fishing ports.
Iran is often hit by quakes of varying magnitudes as it sits on some of the world's most active seismic faultlines.
