IAEA deputy chief in Iran to clear up nuclear ambiguities: official

TEHRAN, Jan. 25 (Mehr News Agency) -- International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) investigators, led by Deputy Director General Olli Heinonen, arrived in Tehran on Tuesday to continue the regular technical and legal talks aimed at clearing up the ambiguities left about Iran's nuclear issue, the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Deputy Director for Planning and International Affairs Mohammad Saeedi said on Wednesday.

The trip of Heinonen's team to Iran is in line with the IAEA regular inspections within the framework of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), the Safeguards Agreement and the additional protocol which Iran has been implementing voluntarily and "there is nothing new and specific about this trip," Saeedi told the Mehr News Agency.

Saeedi noted that a Western media propaganda campaign about this trip were not unexpected because they seek to create a poisonous political and ambiguous atmosphere about Iran's nuclear issue and influence the performance of the IAEA inspectors prior to the crisis meeting of the UN nuclear watchdog on February 2.
