Iranian company building bridge for Iraq

TEHRAN, June 30 (Mehr News Agency) - The Machine Sazi Arak (MSA), a company in central Iran, is building a bridge for the Iraqi city of Suleymaniya, Masud Javadifar told the Persian service of ILNA on Friday.

The final pieces for assembly are to be delivered within six months after the opening of L/C by the Iraqi employer, the company's production director added.

The 180 meter long overpass is designed to have a 90 meter span -- two 45 meter gates.

"Moreover, 9,000 rivets strengthen the 1,150 ton bridge's bond with the concrete structure.

The T-type bridge has 85 13-14 meter long, four meter high pylons, he said, adding this is the first time a bridge with these dimensions is built in Iran.

According to him, the bridge has the strength to tolerate 800 tons of weight during a quake or a storm.

The total value of the contract stands at 1.3 million dollars.
