TEHRAN, July 7 (Mehr News Agency) -- The National Olympic and Paralympic Academy of Iran plans to hold the first International Symposium on the History of Sports in Iran in November.
Experts and researchers are scheduled to discuss sports in ancient Iran, sports from the early Islamic era to the Safavid era, and sports from the Safavid era to modern times at the symposium.
The research section will feature papers on sports literature, the role of sportsmanship, sporting traditions, the roles of music and art in sports, and historical miniatures depicting sporting activities.
The symposium is being organized to introduce the historical roots of sports as depicted in the fields of archaeology, history, literature, art, anthropology, and sociology and to provide a forum for experts to present their views.
Abstracts of research papers should be submitted by August 22 and complete papers should be submitted by September 22 to the secretariat of the symposium at the Enqelab Sports Complex on Vali-e Asr St., Niayesh Highway, Tehran.
