Iranian-Indian duo in Tehran canceled

TEHRAN, July 12 (Mehr News Agency) - The planned concert of Iranian kamancheh virtuoso Kayhan Kalhor and Indian sitar player Shujaat Husain Khan has been canceled, Kalhor told the Cultural Heritage News (CHN) agency here on Wednesday.

"I talked to Shujaat Husain Khan on the phone yesterday (Tuesday). He cannot be in Tehran at summertime," he added.

The artists were scheduled to put on a duo at the open air in the Niavaran Palace, north of Tehran, in August.

Kalhor said he will unlikely hold a concert in Iran this year as the job faces scores of offstage problems.

Kalhor and Husain Khan have been working together for nine years and have made four albums - "Ghazal 1", "Ghazal 2", "Ghazal 3", and "The Rain".

They have given many concerts across the world.
