Ilam, July 17, IRNA-A senior cleric here late Sunday blasted violations of rights by the west which, he said, was their "gift" to the country and which endangered most its youth.
Speaking at a meeting of the supervisory board of this western border province, Mohammad-Taqi Mesbah-Yazdi, head of the Imam Khomeini Educational and Research Institute, said western strategies to defeat the country include weakening of the religious beliefs and social behavior of the youth.
"The west is trying to weaken Iranian youth through some professors employed in universities," he said.
Mesbah-Yazdi said the west was also trying to use certain clerics to achieve some of their goals.
"We should be aware and vigilant and not lose the achievements of the 1979 Islamic Revolution," he said.
Referring to the power of Islam to bring positive changes in society, he noted that the religion proclaimed by Prophet Mohammad was gaining supporters all over the world, particularly in the United States.
