Tehran, July 18, IRNA-Two earthquakes measuring 5 and 4.3 on the Richter scale jolted the cities of Rask and Sisakht in the southeastern and southwestern provinces of Sistan and Balouchestan and Kohgilouyeh and Boyer Ahmad early Wednesday and Tuesday night, respectively.
According to the seismological base of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the 5-degree quake was registered at 02:57 hours local time (2327 GMT on Tuesday).
The tremor was epicentered in an area measuring 61.23 degrees in longitude and 26.13 degrees in latitude, the report added.
The second quake, with an intensity of 4.3, was registered at 23:29 hours local time (1959 GMT).
The 4.3-degree quake was epicentered in an area measuring 51.2 degrees in longitude and 30.95 degrees in latitude.
There are no reports of any casualty or damage to property caused by the quakes.
Iran is often hit by quakes of varying magnitudes as it sits on some of the world's most active seismic fault lines.
