TEHRAN, July 23 (Mehr News Agency) -- As a result of the drilling operations carried out by the National Iranian Central Oilfields Company (NICOC) at ten wells in a three-month period, total national production of oil has been increased by 23,000 barrels per day and daily natural gas production has been increased by 5.8 million cubic meters, a NICOC official said here on Sunday.
In the first three months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-June 21), 12,721 meters of drilling has been carried out at oil and gas wells through the utilization of 12 drilling derricks, NICOC drilling activities director Hossein Shurab added.
The drilling of 14 wells, nine oil wells and five gas wells, as well as the repair of 20 wells will be completed by late March 2007, he explained.
"The company is planning to repair one well and drill three new ones in the Khesht oil field," he said, adding that the North Drilling Company, which has won the tender for the project, will begin work in two months.
The NICOC also intends to drill seven new wells in the Servestan and Saadatabad oil fields, he stated.
