TEHRAN, May 31 (Mehr News Agency) - Bosnia & Herzegovina was bamboozled by Iran, which fought back to win its last World Cup warm-up 5-2 in the capital's Azadi Stadium Wednesday.
Bosnia had a dream start, forcing a dive from Iran keeper Ebrahim Mirzapur with a goal-bound free-kick after two minutes and taking the lead in the fourth minute.
Bochum's Zvjezdan Misimovic beat Mirzapur in a one-on-one challenge with a left drive.
Iran's defender Yahya Golmohammadi learned an invaluable lesson from his slip-up on 17 minutes that helped the visitor double the cushion through Hamburg's Sergej Barbarez.
The two goals, however, were a wake-up call for Iran, whose goal spree started in the 25th minute through midfielder Mehrzad Madanchi, who raced to a Hanover striker Vahid Hashemian through ball on the left flank, clearing the keeper Romeo Mitrovic before poking home.
Messina's fullback Rahman Rezaii made it 2-2 in the 45th minute, rifling home a superb pass from veteran skipper Ali Daei.
Bosnia was stunned seconds later, when a header from midfielder Sohrab Bakhtiarizadeh found the unmarked Hashemian, who coolly found the net from close range.
Iran played a smoother football after the interval, with top marksman Gholam-Reza Enayati duping a handful of Bosnian players and celebrating the fourth one minute from time.
The fifth came one minute into additional time as Rasul Khatibi hotfooted it, sending in a Madanchi cross.
The rising star Masud Shojaii should have netted from close range just before the final whistle.
Drawn with Portugal, Mexico, and Angola in Group D, the Iranian side will take on Mexico in its opener in Nuremberg, southeast of Germany, on June 11.
