FRIEDRICHSHAFEN, Germany, June 9 (Mehr News Agency) - Iran's football team is in a good condition and hopeful of getting a good result in the World Cup opener against Mexico, said coach Hossein Faraki here Friday.
Faraki in his talks with the Mehr News Agency added, "The players are match-fit and in the best of spirits."
Asked about the injured left wingers Sattar Zare' and Fereydun Zandi, he expressed hope the duo will overcome their injuries.
Zare' badly damaged his knee and quit the pitch in the last moments of Thursday's training and former Kaiserslautern midfielder Zandi is suffering from a minor injury.
Iran takes on Mexico in their Group D opener of the 2006 World Cup in Nuremberg Sunday and arrays against Portugal and Angola in Frankfurt and Leipzig on June 17 and 21 respectively.
