This marvelous flower basket will be displayed tomorrow in Azadi Stadium in Tehran on the occasion of National Flower Day on 15th of June, to present it to the people and those soccer players who are now attending the World Cup 2006 in Germany. Having a 35 meter height and a 10 meter width, this flower basket will be the biggest in the world. Most of the flowers which have been used in this basket were grown in Mahalat and Pakdasht, two districts in Tehran Province.

Prior to this, the biggest flower basket was made in the United States in 2004 with 32 meters height and 8 meters width and 12,000 flowers. Tomorrow by displaying this giant flower basket, Iran will beat the previous record.

Presenting a big ring of flower to the tomb of Imam Khomeini, the leader of Islamic revolution in Iran, showering flowers to commemorate the martyrs of the Islamic revolution, printing and publishing special stamps and posters, holding painting competitions among the children under 12, and holding a special flower exhibition in Tehran's Permanent International Fairground will be the other programs of the National Flower Day in Tehran.

"A summit will be held on the morning of 15th of June in Mabna hall of Tehran's Permanent International Fairground attended by authorities and enthusiasts about different types of flowers and the condition for their growth in Iran. After the summit, all the attendees will head for Tehran's Azadi Stadium to visit the biggest bouquet of flower," said Mahsa Mehrabani, head of Iran's Flower and Plant Central Syndicate.

Iranians are very interested in flowers and give flowers to each other on different occasions. Various kinds of flowers grow in Iran and Iranians have a special talent in flower breeding and decorating. Last year Iran exported more than 50 million US dollar worth of various flowers and plants and there is a hope that this figure will reach to 100 million USD this year. Enjoying a good climatic condition, Iran has a satisfactory potential to promote its flower and plants production.
