Iranian music is a treasure: maestro

TEHRAN, June 18 (Mehr News Agency) -- Iranian music is a treasure for creating beautiful and everlasting works, Iranian musician Keikhosro Purnazeri said. "However, only experts who understand the nature of Iranian music can make the best use of it," he added.

"Regional music enjoys special characteristics and depth. It can be the source of different (types of) inspiration for people with various tastes, but the musicians engaged in this style should take care that it makes progress."

He emphasized that the media should enhance the level of listeners' expectations through airing artistic and worthy works.

"Paying too much attention to traditional music is the result of some Iranian musicians' lack of creativity and talent," he opined.

"Unfortunately, most music students start composing their own pieces immediately after finishing their instruction."

He went on to say that musicians need a peaceful and spiritual environment, adding, "They lose their zest for composing among cars, traffic jams, and smog."

To become a musician, one needs at least 15 or 20 years of perseverance, he said in conclusion.
