TEHRAN, June 21 (Mehr News Agency) - In situ natural gas reserve in Kish, a Persian Gulf island in southern Iran, is estimated at 43 trillion cubic feet, exploration manager of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) announced in Tehran on Wednesday.
Mahmud Mohaddes added 36 trillions of the figure could be brought to surface.
"The first layer of gas was identified at the depth of 4,500 meters during the initial stage of exploration last year," said the official, adding the thickness of gas stratum is measured at 650-700 cubic meters.
Preliminary studies on the area have been conducted and the technical data are made available to Pars Oil and Gas Company and Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC), he said.
