Kabul, June 25, IRNA-Visiting Iranian Energy Minister Parviz Fattah conferred in Kabul with President Hamid Karzai on issues of mutual interest. In the meeting, both sides emphasized the need for cooperation between the two countries on electricity and water projects.
Iran's ambassador to Kabul and Afghan Minister of Energy and Water Mohammad Esmaeil Khan also attended the meeting.
President Karzai appreciated Iran's participation in Afghanistan electricity and water industries projects.
Fattah heading a delegation arrived in Kabul on Saturday and was welcomed at the Kabul airport by his Afghan counterpart.
He also had another meeting with Mohammad Esmaeil Khan who pointed out that only 10 percent of Afghanistan's 25 million population have access to electricity and the country needs a lot of help in this regard.
The Iranian minister, for his part, expressed his ministry's readiness to offer training courses in the fields of water and electricity for Afghans.
The Iranian minister stressed the Iranian government's desire to develop ties with the Afghan government.
