Quakes hit towns in southern and northeastern Iran

Tehran, June 25, IRNA-An earthquake measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale hit the vicinity of Dehdasht in Kohkilouyeh and Boyer Ahmad province on Sunday.

The seismological base of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University registered the quake at 14:59 hours local time (11:29 GMT).

The quake was epicentered in an area measuring 50.04 degrees in longitude and 30.96 degrees in latitude, the report added.

Another earthquake measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale hit the city of Torbat-e Jam in the northeastern province of Khorassan Razavi early Sunday.

The seismological base of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University registered the quake at 04:50 hours local time (0120 GMT).

The quake was epicentered in an area measuring 60.59 degrees in longitude and 35.53 degrees in latitude, the report added.

There are no reports of any casualty or damage to property caused by the quakes.

Iran is often hit by quakes of varying magnitudes as it sits on some of the world's most active seismic fault lines.
