Berlin, March 1, IRNA-Iranian psychotherapist Nossrat Pezeshkian received Germany's highest civilian medal -- the Federal Service Cross -- for his "decades-long engagement in the service of medical science," the medical daily Aerztezeitung quoted the social ministry in the southwestern state of Hesse as saying on Wednesday.
Social Minister of Hesse Silke Lautenschlaeger hailed Pezeshkian as "one of the most influential psychotherapists worldwide who has founded a treatment-and-cure method which in the meantime has been established in many countries." The founder of positive therapy, Pezeshkian is a specialist for neurology, psychiatry and psychotherapy.
Born in Kashan in 1933, Pezeshkian also founded the German Society of Positive Psychotherapy and the Academy for Psycho-Family Therapy as well as the non-profit Foundation for the Development of Peace and Conflict Research.
Pezeshkian has written extensively on positive psychotherapy and has given lectures at universities and medical schools around the world.
