Abadan, Khuzestan Prov., March 20, IRNA-Part of Ahvaz-Abadan pipeline, 45 kms to Ahvaz-Abadan road and in vicinity of Umm al-Ghaznan village, caught fire late Sunday.

Head of the Public Relations Department at Karun Oil and Gas Exploitation Company Gholam-Abbas Shahriari told IRNA on Monday that the company's technicians and workers were busy since last night until early Monday morning to extinguish the inferno on the route.

Shahriari said the leaked oil has been collected and fire has completely been put out.

He said the pipeline is expected to be repaired and overhauled by Monday afternoon and resume operation as of Tuesday.

Karun Oil and Gas Exploitation Company is a subsidiary to National South Oil Company, which produces more than one million barrels of oil a day.
