Bandar Abbas, Hormuzgan prov, March 26, IRNA-Director General of the provincial Natural Disasters Headquarters, Masoud Dalman, said here Sunday that Fin and Rouidar areas were jolted by earthquakes on Saturday which left one person dead and another one injured.
He told IRNA that the two areas were hit by the quake on the mountains surrounding Rouidar.
"The 45-year-old Aji Zadgol was killed, while Mohammad Dardaqeh, who is 50 years old, was injured. Both of them were from Rouidar.
No report has so far been released on any further possible victims.
"After the quake, which made the mountains collapse, the routes leading to the provincial villages of `Avin Olya and Sofla' and `Banab' situated near Rouidar as well as `Mehdiabad' located near Fin were closed and their power was cut off," he added.
The reports released on Sunday said that Fin has been jolted 23 times over the past 24 hours.
The first and strongest earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter cale occurred in Fin area, which is located to the north of Bandar Abbas, at 10:58 hours local time (07:28 GMT) on Saturday.
The 16th quake, which jolted Fin area at 21:18 hours local time measured 4.0 on the Richter scale.
The last and weakest tremor measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale hit Dehbarz area near Fin at 01:24 hours local time on Sunday.
According to the seismological base of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the tremor was felt in an area measuring 27.56 degrees in latitude and 55.81 degrees in longitude.
Fin and Rouidar areas are situated around 90 kms to the north of Bandar Abbas, the capital of Hormuzgan province.
