Iranian-American Community in San Diego calls for a demonstration against military action or sanctions on Iran
The San Diego Chapter of Campaign Against Sanctions and Military
Intervention in Iran (CASMII), has called for a demonstration against
military action on Iran, to be held on Saturday May 6, 2006, from
12:00 to 2:00 P.M. in front of the Federal Building in downtown, San Diego.
CASMII and the
Iranian American community of San Diego has been increasingly alarmed by
President Bush’s refusal to rule out a U.S. nuclear attack on Iran, if Iran
doesn't halt its uranium enrichment activities and his April 18th
,statement : "All options are on the table." A nuclear attack on a
non-nuclear-armed Iran would have close to 3 million
casualties, per U.S. Government’s own estimates.
spokesperson, Ali Golchin said “Eleven years of sanctions against
Iraq did nothing to change the regime
and caused the death of close to one-half million Iraqi children. The Iraq war has done nothing to bring peace and
stability to the people of Iraq at the cost thus far of
$277,499,785,673 with human loss of over 2,500 of our soldiers dead and near
20,000 injured or crippled for life.
Iran is 3 times the
population and size of Iraq,
so, in case of a conventional war with Iran, the costs to the American people will
triple that of Iraq. British Medical
Journal Lancet estimates since the U.S. invasion 100,000 Iraqi civilians
have been killed.”
Prominent physicist and university
professors will speak at the event.
