Sanandaj, May 4, IRNA-An earthquake measuring 3.9 on the Richter scale jolted the city of Sanandaj, capital of Kurdestan province, western Iran, on Thursday morning.
The seismological centers affiliated to Tehran University's Geophysics Institute recorded the tremor at 08:43 hours local time (05:13 GMT).
The tremor was epicentered in an area in the city measuring 35.11 degrees in latitude and 46.67 degrees in longitude.
No report was available on casualties or possible damage to property caused by the quake.
Iran is situated on some of the world's most active seismic faultlines and quakes of varying magnitudes are usual occurrences.
