"At present, the United Nations plays a decisive role in international relations, while colonial approaches divert the nations from the path of independence and consciousness," added Mohammadi.

For his part, head of the German Foundation of Science and Politics explained his country's outlooks on the international system and urged the need for continued dialogue.

He added that powerful status in international relations is of great importance to Germany.

Issues such as `developments in the international system', Iran-Europe fields of cooperation' and `Tehran-Berlin-Middle East relations after the occupation of Iraq' are on the agenda of the meeting.
