Tehran, May 8, IRNA-The 5th Iran-German meeting within the framework of cooperation between the Institute for Political and International Studies (IPIS) of Iran's Foreign Ministry and German Foundation of Science and Politics opened in Tehran on Monday.
According to a report released by IPIS, the one-day meeting is attended by a German delegation including two German MPs, head of the German Foundation of Science and Politics as well as a number of international political experts.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the meeting, Deputy Foreign Minister for education and research department, Manouchehr Mohammadi, referred to the Iran's effort to raise bilateral ties and said this meeting provides an appropriate opportunity for exchange of view about matters of mutual concern.
Turning to the international developments such as the US unilateralism at the international level aiming to create a unipolar world, he said that this will be an obstacle to regional and ultra-regional collaboration.
"At present, the United Nations plays a decisive role in international relations, while colonial approaches divert the nations from the path of independence and consciousness," added Mohammadi.
For his part, head of the German Foundation of Science and Politics explained his country's outlooks on the international system and urged the need for continued dialogue.
He added that powerful status in international relations is of great importance to Germany.
Issues such as `developments in the international system', Iran-Europe fields of cooperation' and `Tehran-Berlin-Middle East relations after the occupation of Iraq' are on the agenda of the meeting.
