President Franklin D. Roosevelt
coined the term “United Nations”. A
term first used in the "Declaration by United Nations" of 1 January 1942, during
the Second World War when representatives of 26 nations pledged their
Governments to continue fighting together against the Axis Powers (Nazi Germany,
Fascist Italy, and Imperial Japan).
It is a tragedy that the very organization created to fight the axis of
power, has been inflicted with a malignant tumor, its growth unstoppable. The new Axis of Power, led by the
Indeed, it would seem as if the members of the Security Council, the five permanent members and the ten elected members are all an extension of American power house. The veto bearing permanent members Russia, France, China, and UK, in spite of their charge to maintain peace and security, have bent to America’s will to create insecurity and war – to appease the United States quest for world domination at the expense of weakening their own status.
Once again we are witnessing history repeat itself – Failing to learn from it, we are condemned to relive it. For the second time in three years, the United Nations Security Council is kowtowing to the United States – The administration that has violated Articles IV and VI of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), and is about to violate Article III with its deal with India, the same axis which led an illegal war against Iraq, causing mayhem, death, and civil war, has the audacity to call for Chapter VII under Article 39, 40, and 41 of the United Nations Charter, and the Security Council, the body set up to fight against power, is accommodating it!
And it is talking Chapter VII – sanctions that will bring death and destruction to millions – a declaration of war, followed by a military attack that will destroy a country which is defending its ‘inalienable’ right. The Bush Whitehouse is out for yet another kill, and the United Nations Security Council is accommodating it. There is no limit to killing – and there is no limit to shame either.
Our proud nation will be faced with a choice – yield to the bully and the bully will invade our territory (though not with an army – just surrender our sovereignty and they will install a puppet). Or, stand by our principles and they will starve our women and children. Sanctions are ineffective, of course, history has shown us that in a porous world they are just a moral-crusher. Once they have undermined what is left of the middle-class (the backbone of democracy – what they claim they are the champions of!), they will attack with all they have - including nuclear bombs.
What dilemma for this proud nation! Subservience or ….
Here is the riddle. It is clear that the United Nations has
no role other than accommodating the
