Tehran Art Scene: Homayoun Mosavie at Haft Samar

By Syma Sayyah, Tehran

At Haft Samar gallery (Motahari Ave., Koheh Nor St., 5th Alley No. 25. Tel. 88731403), I usually find some artists, unknown to me, who have depth and are intense artists.  This time I saw the print works of Homayoun Mosavie.

As I am writing this I am looking at the notes that I took and I see I’ve written: deep, sad, very male, and cold, pained which touches you out of your control.  As I was looking at his works, siya-ghalam, xylography/linocut and saw the deep sadness and pain therein, I thought to myself how lucky I am and thanked God in my heart.

He told me that there is something in him that needs to be expressed and share his view of life with others.  I just wish Mr Mosavie was less shy as an artist.  I look forward to his future and hopefully happier ones.  I have a few pictures here to share with you including his picture.

By the way, thanks to Elahe Gallery(#47, Golfam St., Africa St, Tehran, Iran,
Tel:+98 21 2054128, Email:elahe@elahe.net ) for creating a wonderful website, both in Persian and English; here are lists of the major art galleries and museums in Tehran for your reference.   Please join me in a big cheer for the Elahe gallery and the manager Ms Elahe Javaheri for the good public work that they do:
