Tehran, May 12, IRNA-Two earthquakes, measuring 4.1 and 3.9 on the Richter scale respectively, jolted suburbs of two cities in South Khorassan and Khuzestan provinces, eastern and southwestern Iran, Thursday evening.
The seismological centers affiliated to Tehran University's Geophysics Institute recorded the first tremor at 21:59 hours local time (18:29 GMT) in suburbs of eastern city of Nahbandan in South Khorassan province.
Meanwhile, another quake hit suburbs of Baghmalek town at 22.02 hours local time (18:32 GMT) in Khuzestan province, southern Iran.
The first tremor was epicentered in an area in Nahbandan's suburbs, measuring 31.46 degrees in latitude and 60.02 degrees in longitude, while the second one was registered in an area measuring 31.44 in latitude and 49.54 in longitude, the report said.
No report was available on casualties or possible damage to property caused by the earthquakes.
Iran is situated on some of the world's most active seismic faultlines and quakes of varying magnitudes are usual occurrences.
