Iran's crude oil production is four million barrels daily: oil official

Tehran, May 20, IRNA-Managing Director of Iran National Oil Company (NIOC) said in Tehran on Saturday that Iran's current crude oil production is about four million barrels daily.

"We strive to set our production volume by the quotas set for us by the OPEC," Qolam Hossein Nouzari added.

He also told reporters that the NIOC has plans for development of gas fields of 'South Geshoy' and 'North Pars.'

The tenders for the development of these fields have not yet been finalized and relevant technical studies are being carried out, the oil official stated .

He also said 'Kish' gas fields in the Persian Gulf with 48,000 billion cubic feet is one of the biggest of its kind in the world.

He said the preliminary plans have been drawn up for expansion of the field.

Oil Minister Seyed Kazem Vaziri-Hamaneh said here last month that Iran will not stop exporting oil, just as it continued it during eight years of the Iraqi-imposed war.

Briefing the OPEC News Agency on Iran's investment plans in the oil and gas sector on the sidelines of the 10th International Energy Forum in Doha, Qatar (April 22-24), he said that Iran has extensive plans to invest in the upstream and downstream sections of crude oil, gas and petrochemical industries, part of which are currently underway.

Turning to the tenders held for six development stages of South Pars gas field, he noted that the agreements on the remaining stages of the field's development have been signed.

Vaziri-Hamaneh pointed to 28 petrochemical units, whose construction is currently underway, and said that development of two oil refineries has been planned and the relevant agreements are ready to be inked.

Meanwhile, he referred to establishment of a gas condensate refinery with a capacity of 360,000 barrels/day and that of two refineries to be fed with heavy crude oil as some of the development plans.

The minister expressed confidence that Iran will not only manage to become self-sufficient in producing oil products, but will succeed in exporting oil products as well.
