Tehran Art Scene: Karim Nasr at Artists' Forum

By Syma Sayyah, Tehran

In April, I had a meeting at the Khaneh Honmandann (Tehran Artist Forum).  I was there early so I took the opportunity to visit the Morteza Momayez Gallery on the ground floor.  There I saw the works of Mr Karim Nasr who had most influenced Azadeh Razaghdoost.

His works were very intense and I found his large works most thoughtful and mysteriously provocative. Usually many artists use large format for not good enough reasons, but Mr Nasar had used large format when he could not use a smaller canvas.

I was most impressed with many of his works. On the artist forum website I did not find much about this exhibition except one picture.  Thanks to the Elahe Gallery's wonderful website information on Iranian artists I was able to get his website www.karimnasr.com.  I found out that besides teaching, painting, and doing illustration work, he had studied to be an architect but left it unfinished.

I do hope you enjoy the few pictures I have for you from his works.  He is a very good artist.

By the way, thanks to Elahe Gallery(#47, Golfam St., Africa St, Tehran, Iran,
Tel:+98 21 2054128, Email:elahe@elahe.net ) for creating a wonderful website, both in Persian and English; here are lists of the major art galleries and museums in Tehran for your reference.   Please join me in a big cheer for the Elahe gallery and the manager Ms Elahe Javaheri for the good public work that they do:
