TASHKENT, May 27 (Mehr News Agency) - Seven-time Asian futsal champion Iran stood third at the eighth edition here Saturday.

The rejuvenated Iranian side, which conceded a 5-1 loss to the budding Japan Friday's semifinal, edged past the struggling Kyrgyzstan 5-3 in the third-place playoff at the Yunusabad Sports Complex.

The two teams fought to a goalless draw in the first half, but Iran outscored the Kyrgyz side as Masud Daneshvar and Kazem Mohammadi hit twice each and Mohsen Zarei added one after the interval.

Japan and host Uzbekistan are fighting for the title.
