Contemporary Persian literature to be published in U.S.


TEHRAN, Nov.13 (ISNA) - Another English translation of contemporary Persian literature is to be published in the U.S.

The second volume of the collection titled as "It's a Strange Time, My Dear." which is a selection of contemporary Persian literature published after the Islamic Revolution is currently under translation.

According to Ahmad Karimi Hakkak who supervises the translation of this collection along with Nahid Mozaffari, the works of quite younger poets and writers are selected and translated in this up coming book.

The first volume of "It's a Strange Time, My Dear." that was published in 2005 by the PEN association in the U.S. covered a translation of works by various contemporary Iranian writers like Mahmoud Dolatabadi, Ahmad Mahmoud, Esmaeil Fasih, Houshang Golshiri, Simin Daneshvar, Iraj Pezeshkzad, Taghi Modarressi, Monirou Ravanipour, Shahrnoush Parsipour, Reza Farakhkhal, Reza Daneshvar, Nasim Khaksar, Hadi Khorsandi, Goli Tarraghi, Behnam Diyani, Saied Ebrahim Nababvi, Shahriyar Mandanipour, Ghazi Rabihavi, Akbar Abdollahi, Rouya Hakkakian, Ziba Karbasi, Faride Kheradmand, Abbas Saffari, Ahmad Shamlou, Simin Behbahani, Mahdi Akhavan Sales, Esmail Khouei, Nader Naderpour, Mohammad Reza Shafeeikadkani, Yadollah Rouyaei, Manouchehr Atashi, Mohammad Ali Sepanlou, Reza Brahani, Mohammad Mokhtari, Abbas Kiyarostami, Goranaz Mousavi, Majid Nasifi, Mina Asadi, Partouv Nouri Ala and Mirza Agha Askari.

Karimi Hakkak who is currently a university professor in Maryland University of U.S. is presently busy writing a book in English with the subject of "Nostalgic Preference and Nostalgic Deterrence" which is survey in classic Persian literature with concentration on contemporary Iranian literature.
