Tehran, Nov 12, IRNA-Operation to construct the assembly line for Samand automobiles was inaugurated in Senegal in a ceremony attended by Senegalese and Iranian officials.
Speaking at the ceremony, Iran's Deputy Minister of Industries and Mines Mohsen Shaterzadeh described the construction of the factory for Iranian-made car as the beginning of the industrial development of the African state.
He added this is a very appropriate opportunity for Iran Khodro Auto Manufacturing Company to demonstrate its capabilities in West Africa.
He stressed that Iran Khodro will promote Senegal's export capabilities to the African continent by transferring technical know-how and technology in auto manufacturing and assembly to the state.
Speaking at the same gathering, Senegal's Prime Minister Macky Sall called the inauguration of Samand assembly line in his country as a symbol of industrial development and extension of Iran-Khodro industry to the world.
Once it goes into production, the factory will have the capacity to manufacture some 10,000 Samand cars annually.
The factory will be built at a cost of dlrs 60 million, 60 percent of which will be borne by Iran Khodro. The Senegalese government will provide 20 percent while the private sector will contribute the remaining 20 percent.
